"Artificial Lag" Resource Levelling

L

LS123

The "artificial lag" created after resource leveling between an activity and
its predecessor / successor is not shown in the Task Form, in addition to
this when the finish date of first activity moves, the successor activity
(which has been moved due to Resource leveling) moves with this "Artificial
lag"!!

Is this really confusing or I am missing something?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Hi LS123,

The "artificial lag" created after resource leveling is shown in the Task
Form with the Format / Details : "Resouce Schedule" under the name Leveling
Delay.
<<when the finish date of first activity moves, the successor activity moves
with this "Artificial lag"> : this is a main part of the leveling solution.
You can observe the solution of the leveling in the Leveling Gantt view.

You are not seeing what you term as "artificial Lag." Instead, you are
seeing what is termed a "Leveling Delay." When you level an overallocated
resource, Microsoft Project can only take two possible actions to resolve
the overallocations:

1. Delay tasks or assignments.
2. Split tasks or assignments.

When Microsoft Project delays a task to resolve an overallocation, it places
a Leveling Delay on the task. If you apply the Leveling Gantt (View - More
Views - Leveling Gantt), you can see the actual amount of the Leveling
Delay, measured in Elapsed Days (eDays). If you ever need to remove a
Leveling Delay on a task because it is no longer needed or relevant, you
apply the Leveling Gantt view and set the Leveling Delay value to 0.

Hope this helps.
