Assigning Resources as a group

Does anyone know how to assign a group of resources to tasks? I have a set
of resources with everything identical except for work times. I would like
to assign them to multiple tasks. I do not care whom does what, but I do not
want more than one resource working on any one task at a time. Is there a
method other than manually assigning each member of the group individually?

If you have a team of writers (for example) and a team leader for them then
one way is to have a resource called Writers Team Leader with max units
representing the number of people in the team. So, 5 in the team = 500% Max
Units.

Now assign all tasks to the team leader and leave the team leader to assign
work in the most efficient way each week.
