Audit resource

I have a project that the Audit resource function is able to calculate
and manage the overallocation for now.

Now, we have 5 resources that are able to work on the project half
time. Easy, just put 50% to the unit and the function Audit resource
will calculate the new plan.


Wrong, the audit is popping windows saying that it cannot correct the
overallocation.

Why Project cannot postpone some task so that the resources won't be
overallocated ???

Hi Martin,

First, in English the function is called resource leveling, but that doesn't
bother.
If your tasks have resoruces assigned at 100% and you put Max Units to 50%
then Leveling CANNOT solve that because leveling never ever changes
assignment units, it just postpones tasks; so even if the task is delayed by
twenty years it will still have 100% units with only a capacity of 50%.

Look at it this way.
You need 2 people to carry a long ladder.
If you have only one available, you cna't do the task, even if you postpone
it or double the duration.

If you want leveling to woerk ideally keep everything (capacity as well as
allocations) to 100% and give the 50% guys a 4 hrs/day calendar. Leveling
will do miracles.
