AutoCorrect in a Template

N

Nancy Weir

I have set up a template for recording minutes of a meeting. When a person
uses the template it asks for user input such as date of meeting, where
held, time, etc. In order to have names spelled correctly and also to
eliminate typing the first and last names all the time, I set up
AutoCorrect. e.g. John Doe would be jd. The only AutoCorrect that seems to
work is the very first line. After that, only the abbreviated letters show
up. I go in to the document, highlight the short forms (jd) and press the
space bar and voila, the name spells out completely. Then I have to remove a
space.

Is there a way that the AutoCorrect will work on all the names that I have
abbreviated or do I have to continue with what I am doing?

Thanks for any assistance.

There is an options button associated with Auto corrected text. If you
allow the mouse pointer to hover below the first letter of the
corrected text the options are revealed. One option is not to continue
correcting the text.

A way to prevent this happening is to turn of the option as follows
From the menu bar select Insert | Autotext | Autotext | AutoCorrect
tab, un-tick "Show Autocorrect options buttons".

Thanks Mike but this doesn't solve my problem. I have a template using the
"Fill-in" feature of a merge. When the person doing the minutes opens the
template the fill-in boxes appear. They have to type in the name of the
person who approved the minutes, etc. When they do this I want to use the
abbreviated or "autocorrect" option. e.g. they would type jd for John Doe.
The jd shows up in the finished product but I was hoping for John Doe
instead of jd. I have to manually click on the jd and then hit space bar
then the full name appears. I want to find a way to have the autocorrect
feature work when the merge is completed.

I hope I'm clear.

Thanks

I see what you are trying to achieve, but alas I don't know how to
attack the problem. I will have a think about it, if I find a solution
I'll post it here.
