Automatically generate project numbers

We're on Project Pro 2002 and Project Server.

Can Server automatically generate a unique project number whenever a new
project is created?

Can this number be in a project header record and then included in views and
reports?

Hi Hall,

I have the same problem. If you find a solution, please
let me know.

What we are doing now is just using the subweb number, but
we already know that this is not the best solution.
