back up email

When I try to save email to a CD it says it is read only
and won't save. I am running Outlook on Windows XP. How
can I back up my email?

Presumably you mean that you are using whatever CD burning software that
Windows XP provides to copy the .pst file onto CD-R[W] discs.

Also, presumably the CD-R[W] disc is not closed (i.e., the last session
was not closed which allows writing more files onto that disc). If the
last session was closed, you cannot write to that disc anymore. With
CD-R discs, you can't write to it again after it gets closed. With
CD-RW, you'll have to reinitialize (erase) the entire disc to use it
anew.
