backing up emails from Microsoft Outlook

I want to transfer emails from laptop which is running
Windows 98 SE, to another laptop which is running Windows
XP home. Can anyone help me at all with a step by step
guide on how to do it please.

KePaHa cogitated deeply and scribbled thusly:

Assuming same version of Outlook, do a File, Import/Export. Export to a File, to a PST file. Make sure you export the entire mailbox, including subfolders. Name the PST. Finish. Take that PST file to the other machine (via USB key, burn a CD, etc.) and perform a File, Import from File, Import from PST.

No need. Close Outlook, and just copy the pst file. On the new machine,
copy back to the HDD and in Outlook, File-Open.
