Backup of DATABASE file from Microsoft Entourage X

Hi Heather,

my guess is that this is caused by the fact that the databases are not in
their correct folders. Note: to make the following methods work, make sure
you quit any Office application that may be running.

Entourage stores its data in ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data. Inside that
folder, you will need to have *two* folders: one needs to be called "Office
2004 Identities" (and that one should already be there), and you may have to
create the other one, called "Office X Identities". In "Office X Identities"
create a new folder and call it anything you like, preferably "Main
Identity", then drag your old database in there. Now launch Entourage 2004
and click on "File>Import" and select the option that offers to import data
from an earlier version. Entourage should now show you a list of identities,
and your old Entourage v.X identity should be on it as well; select it, then
import it into your 2004 identity.

If there are any problems, just post back.

I am trying to recover a copy of the database file from Entourage X to
Entourage 2004. The file was copied from a MAC onto a PC about a year ago.
Since then the MAC's harddrive failed. We have a new harddrive and are
trying to recover the information from the DATABASE file that was copied
onto the PC.

We tried creating a new identity, dumping the database and replacing it with
the old one and we tried created a Microsoft X identity and importing the
database from it into 2004. Neither of these things worked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Heather Martin
