Bespoke Project Calendars

I am working on a project in the middle east and would like to make a global
change so that Thursday and Friday are the weekend.

Given that the help never shows you where to actually do stuff but always
seems to refer to menus I cant find.

I did try selecting the Hijira calendar but this only converted the writing
into arabic (which sadly I dont read) but even then left the grey weekend as
Saturday & Sunday.

Can anyone help me do this?

I guess I am really asking to customise a project calendar which I am sure
must be possible, if not why not?

Conincidetly I made such a calendar this morning.

Menu: Tools/change working time, Button: create new calendar. Give it a
name and start with create new base calendar. Press the Details button
to pick which are working days.

Thanks for the feedback I've already tried that route the program however seems to defaults to standard despite the fact that I select my calender. Or whatever is wroing it still wont let me set a Saturday as a starting day. I selected working days as Sat - Wed but it doesnt seem to like this.
But being honest I dont really understand all this different calander guff
in the help. I thought I could mangage round the problem by moving to 24
hours and adjusting the times to allow for weekends. I had assumed 24 meant
7/24 (The bods at MS must have heard of continuous manfacturing) but it still
wont let me start or end tasks on Saturdays.

Why does the program have all the restrictions and limitations?

Thing is I only really need to set out a time schedule with associated team
resource against each action I dont need the daily working times or any of
that stuff yet so would like to ignore it. I am just counting man days of
effort at the moment and if I need to break thinsgs down I will.

And how for example do I know the program is using the new calendar for my
project nothing changes on the screen.

It cant be that I changed the calendar on the main highest level task and
then have change the calendar for all the sub tasks manually as well do I?

Ian,

In Project 2007, you can adjust the default days worked for the standard
project calendar to run from Saturday to Wednesday. Alternately you can
create a resource calendar and do the same thing, then assign that to
whomever you want.

If you select View -> Turn on Project Guide, you can click on Define General
working times and it will walk you through selecting the calendar, defining
the work week, setting holidays and days off, defining time units, and
setting the changes.

Bear in mind that, if you are using Project Server, you'll need
administrative permnissions to do this on the server.

Hope this helps.
