booklet printing

I'm working on a 40 page booklet to be printed on 8 1/2 x 11, portrait. My
problem is that even after setting margins to 1/2 inch, my work is
'compressed' after printing showing about a 2 inch margin. The print is
small as well as the pictures. I've never been able to figure this problem
out. I am networked to my Canon printer that will print, fold and staple my
booklets. I've tried different page setups but cannot get it to expand the
way it should. Can anyone PLEASE help me with this??

That's a really tall skinny booklet, are you sure you have your printer page
setup correctly?

What version Publisher? It does make a difference.
If you are using 2007:
File, Page setup, Advanced on the right, Select booklet, type 4.25 width, 11"
height. The default is 5.5 x 8.5.
See if this setup works for you. You can change the margins on this screen.
Have you checked with Canon for an updated driver or support documents.
