Borther printer

I cannot get publisher 2002 to print to the Brother
printer HL 1850.

Every time the printer says the page size is wrong and we
cannot get Publisher to print to an A4 page - it insists
we want to print to a "User defined" page. And yes, I
have tried correcting the page size and just printing one
page at a time as a test and it refuses.

Any thoughts?

Set the page size in the printer driver to A4
Set the page size in Publisher to Full Page
It should then print.

Those are the settings, but it still insists on reverting
to "user defined" in the printer properties setting

Does it print anyway? What does it say the dimensions of the User Defined
paper size are?
Have you tried using a User Defined setting of 297x210mm?

Huw if you are using XP look carefully in the Printer Properties as there is
in many of the XP printer drivers another size dialogue box on one of the
tabs. Even the XP MS Office Document Image Writer printer driver has this.
Why there are two places to setup the page size is anybodies guess.

No, the printer settings are the same in both places. It
is just Publisher which seems to be saying "user defined"
and not "A4"

But before t said it was your printer that was changing!
Set your printer setup, then go into Publisher and tell it straight that it
is a Full Page (or a custom page that is 297x210).
Not print. Ignore any errors, and force the printer to print the damn
thing.

I thought I had it then. I have given the page a Custom
size of 21 x 29.7 and it will now print (after resetting
the print settings to A4) but....

It wont print double-sided even though the duplex boxes
are ticked

Huw well that is the major sizing issue problem that is well known in
Publisher 2002. This major problem has NOT been fixed in Publisher 2003,
and will not be fixed prior to release or patched.

There is zilch/nada/nothing/nought you can do about it. What you have to do
to overcome it is set the page size manually. This sometimes takes two
attempts to get it to perform.

Just as I posted previously about setting up the page size manually. That
is the known fix as I stipulated.

Very few printers duplex automatically with Publisher.

I have only ever managed to get the manual duplexing to work.
