Budget Resource

I'm attempting for the 1st time to create a budget for my project.
According the the Help\Microsoft Project Help\Create A Budget for Your
Project, I need to create budget resources first. My questions is, if I
have a budget resource named Budget-Sub, what should the resource type be?
I'm thinking it should be cost....am I correct?

If there are any good articles out there pertaining to budgets with MS
Project please point me in that direction.

Thanks

JR

Hi,

If you want to express a budget in money terms it will be a cost resoruce.
You may also consider a work budget; then it is a work resource.
Hope this helps,

I'm a little confused...probably because I havn't read enough about doing
budgets with MSP.

What's the difference in expressing a budget in money and expressing a
budget as work?

I have a resource: Sub that is of type: work. If I want to create a budget
for this resource do I create a resource: Budget-Sub, make type: work/cost?,
and then asign the Budget-Sub resource to the project summary task?

You would use a cost budget for cost of the project. You would use a work
budget for the amount of work on the project. Cost is in units of currency.
Work is in hours of work.

It is up to you to know what type of budget you have. If you don't know what
your budget is then you should find out before you start working in Project.
