Calendar font problem

I have been trying to set up a new year's calendar using
Microsoft Publisher's Calendar Wizard, but have run into a
problem. I want to use font size 14 for the dates in each date
checker board square, but I want to type in some text in font
size 6. This hasn't worked like I think it should. I can type in
the information with the chosen type and font size, and all looks
well, but when I save that page and go on to the next one
somethign gets scrambled. When I come back to the original page
some of the date font size will have been changed to font size 6
and some of the text font size will have been changed to 14. This
seems to be a random thing, and doesn't affect all the fonts on
any given page. Any ideas, anyone, as to how I might overcome
this?

What calendar wizard are you using? What version Publisher?
I tried several wizards in Publisher 2003 and I don't see your issue. Earlier
versions of Publisher would do strange font things if the printer driver was out of
date.

I am running MS Windows XP with SP2 installed. I am using
Publisher 2000 and the Calendar Wizard claled Understated
Calendar Template. This is the simplest one available, and it is
very easy to set up and use. The only problem I've had is the
scrambling of font sizes in the date checkerboard squares if I
try to use more than one font size.

I print this calendar out on my IBM Infoprint Color 8 Laser
printer and it prints very well. That is it prints exactly as it
is shown on my computer screen.

If I set the font size the same for all items it handles this
very well, and prints out correctly. But, there is too much text
information to key into the limited calendar date checkerboard
squares unless I use a small font size. The whole thing just
looks better if I can use a larger font size for the date but a
small font size for the text.

Okay, this happens to me too and I can't figure out why. It occurs randomly as well.
This is the frustrating part, I can make two or three months work okay, save the
calendar and the next time I see what you are seeing, do a fix, then the next time I
open the calendar it is correct...
Do you want a workaround?
Create a text box the size of the cell, give it no fill, input your information into
the text box,

Thsnks, Mary, I can see how this might work, but it surely would
be tedious...365 days on a calendar to tinker with. I think I may
try upgrading Publisher. What is current? Someone mentioned
Publisher 2003 as being free of this problem. Is there a later
version than 2003?

No there is not a newer version, at least for now, rumor has it Office 12 will be
introduced later this year.

I've used the same calendar (understated) to print out, with family
bithdays and dates to remember on it. I've had the same problem with the
font changing, and wanting to use the biggest I can for some things and
smaller to fit more in. It didn't really matter too much because it was
mainly just for me. I also tried putting little graphics in, like flowers on
the first day of Spring, Christmas on Dec 25th, etc.

I haven't done it yet this year (updated the birthday ages, holidays,
etc) but I've started it but feel I know a little more about Publisher this
year (I hope). I think making a separate text box for each (different) font
might work, I haven't tried this enough to know if it will. Also, maybe
going over it and doing all the font in one size, saving it, and openning it
again, making new text boxes for another size font?

I've been following this topic with interest, because I experienced the
same thing. I also tried to use some in italic and some bold, etc. As I
said, it didn't really matter at the time (last Jan) because it was just for
my own use and long as the info was on it, that's all I cared about. It
would be good to know how to do it right. I'm thinking separate text boxes
for each size or formatting.

I had the same problem last year, and when I get a chance to do it again
this year, I plan to try the text boxes. I know a lot more about Publisher
this year. I don't remember, but don't think I used text boxes (with or
without fill) when I made last year's. I've done more (and the tutorials
that come with it) since.

Carrie, I've concluded that the use of text boxes is the only way
to resolve this problem, using my Publisher 2000. I would like to
know if this problem persists in Publisher 2003, or what ever the
latest version is.

It doesn't persist...
I've used the Understated calendar in 2003 and it works as it should.
