Calendar Sync Issues with iPhone After iTunes Update

I writing to see if anyone else deals with this problem after an iTunes update. If so, have you found a way to fix it or avoid it? This has happened to me everytime Apple has rolled out an major update to iTunes. I will try to be brief, but provide as much detail as possible.

I did the iTunes 8 update and when I went to sync my iPhone for the first time it wants to add all my entourage calendar events to my iCal. What ends up happening is that I end up with double entries for every calendar event I have. This happens in Entourage, iCal and my iPhone.

I get an alert saying "Syncing with Bob iPhone will change more than 5% of your Calendars on this computer"

I then have a choice to cancel syncing my calendars or to continue. Of course I can cancel, but then that means I never again get to sync my calendars. If I continue, it adds all the calendar events to iCal (which in turn internally sync's with Entourage) and what ends up happening is that I have two entries for every calendar event.

What ends up happening is that I am forced to go through and delete all the double entries which ends up taking a significant amount of time.

Anyone else dealt with this issue and found a way to fix the problem?

I don't use an iPhone but I have seen this each time OSX updates. When
this happens are you getting a sync conflict dialogue box. If so, just
choose one of the entries as the prime. If not do this. Before sync
disable Entourage sync in prefs. Run your sync. I'm guessing you now
have the dups. Enable Entourage sync and tell Entourage to over write
the Apple apps iCal, Notes and Contacts. You will now have your Apple
apps in order - not dup'd as long as Entourage was fine. Enable iPhone
sync and over write the device on first sync and sync after that. All
should be fine. One caveat. Entourage has a sync services issue so the
best thing after your first over write is to go back into Entourage
prefs and by unchecking the sync modules, OK and then check just one
module for sync e.g. Calendar choose combine. Just sync one Entourage
module at a time otherwise you'll end up with crazy sync results.

That worked perfectly...thank you. I'm saving your email and will refer to every time Apple roles out an update.

Thanks Again, I knew someone would be able to help me think it through.

I got the same message, but I use Outlook and its calenars. I have
opted not to synch, but would like to have my calendar entires intack
and unchanged, while being able to synch. Any advice?
