Cannot Open Word 2000

When I attempt to open the Word 2000 program I receive
the message that Word has experienced a problem and has
to close. I can proceed no farther.
A search of Word Documents & Settings reveals Errors 2826
and 2726. No remedy is given.
Can you please advise how to correct this problem.
Note: Running the install disc did not correct the
problem.

I have Windows ME, 10G HD and 128RAM
and MS Office 2000.

Rest it works fine.

Word has worked fine for about 2 years then suddenly
whenever I try and bring up the program it freezes the
entire computer.
I can't even get to an error message because the last
thing visible before I have to reboot is the small blue
rectangle which announces the name of the product; Word
2000.

I tried uninstalling, and then reinstalling about 3 times
and I get the always same error.

Excel, PowerPoint works fine.

Any help greatly appreciated.
