Cannot paste into Word 2002

Starting with Word 2002, I cannot copy text from another
document, then open Word, and then paste it in. For some
reason, Word has to be open first in order for it to "see"
the copy. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Did you get Word 2002 as part of Works Suite?

Thank you for your responsse. Yes, I did. I also
purchased Word 2003 in hopes of solving it and installed
it over Word 2002 but it did not help. Maybe a total
uninstall in reinstall?

No, not a total uninstall. Just uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in
for Word (assuming you're running Word freestanding and not starting it from
the Works Task Launcher). The add-in has many nasty habits, and one of them
is clearing the Clipboard when you start Word. Uninstall it using Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs. This doesn't remove Works or Word, just the
add-in that links them.
