Cannot read a .pub file

I am creating a yearbook for my school. I have been
working on the same file for months and whenever I try to
open the file I get the message: Cannot read file.

I am using Publisher2000 and have been working on the same
computer from the beginning, the file is rather large...

How can I open the file? Or recover the file? Is it
possible that the file is too large to open?

Please help, I am hoping I do not have to start all over
again!

Can you link photos in 2000? You really should be linking, NOT imbedding.

Once I can open the file I would like to link the photos,
but currently I cannot open the file to chance
anything...thank you for all the help, if there is
anything else I can try to open the file please let me
know. I would really like to avoid restarting six months
of work.

You can choose to have the photo's linked, but they will still embed as well
:-(. It's a bug that still exists in 2003.

a) Embedding is spelled with 2 "e"s and one "i".
b) Publisher, even when linking photos, stores them internally too, in case
the original is deleted
c) Publisher 2002 and up help by compressing pictures.

Look in the Windows temp folder, Publisher does create temp files, you maybe able to
recover some part of the file there. Another place to look, in Windows Explorer, type
%temp% in the address bar.
