Cannot "save as" .doc to .txt

I have a large (350-500 pgs) yearly report which must be sent to the client
in Word, RTF, TXT, HTML, and PDF formats we've been doing for six years. This
year I am unable to create the TXT version doing a "save as" on the Word
file. I tried on three different computers; removed all graphics, links, and
security; tried on Word and RTF versions and nothing worked. Every time the
program would crash and ask if I want to recover and report the error. I even
went back to last year's report, which we did create a TXT version of last
year, and was unable to do so with the same file. I've tried default
settings, MS-DOS, and Other Encoding (ASCII, Windows). We are using Windows
XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 SP2. Thanks!

Sounds like it may possibly be partially corrupt. Try saving it as HTML,
closing the file, then opening and saving it back as a doc file. Now will it
SaveAs txt?

Thanks, I believe it's close enough. It didn't give an option to save back to
"doc" but it went from htm to txt well enough. We've been using the same file
every year because the TOC is coded into about 20 different parts so I'm not
surprised it's become corrupt. Thank you so much!
