Can't create documents from templates, not even Blank Document

When I go to "New Office Document" and choose "Blank Document" (or any other
template), Word opens up, but without creating the new document. The screen
is just gray and I have to go to "File, New" to actually create a document.

The problem can be fixed by deleting Normal.dot in my Application Data.

However, as soon as I run Word once, Normal.dot is re-created and the
problem reappears.

What's wrong and how can I fix it? This is Office 2002 (XP) with current
online updates, under Windows XP.

Thanks!

Fixed it by disabling the Office plug-in for Norton Antivirus.

(Under "Miscellaneous" in Norton Antivirus options.)

This also makes Word launch a lot faster.

"Michael A. Covington"

Another of the myriad of reasons I hate NAV.
