Can't delete messages from inbox

Please somebody help me
I can not delete any messages from my inbox. When i press delete or right click and delete nothing happens
I've double clicked on the messages to open them up. When i press delete it says "the message could not be deleted"
I can still receive e-mails, but my inbox is filling up fast, not being able to delete. Hope someone has the answer
