cant delete text

I created a line to visually separate my text by typing a chain of ~ to look like this:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I can't delete the line. I don't think it's a border, I tried to go into borders and none were selected. I can move the line by clicking and dragging it, and delete tect around the line, but I can't delete the line itself. Any suggestions?
