Can't Import data from Entourage X to 2004

Got a new HD for my Ti400 and I want to import all my old X identity stuff
to the new 2004 version.
I go through the import routine and select X Identities on the old HD, but
everything in the folder is greyed out.
Do I have to boot from the old HD and them do an archive before this will
work? Or is there another solution?
Many thanks, Colin

If you have not used Entourage 2004....

Move you Microsoft User Data folder over to your new hard drive.
Open Entourage 2004 and select Import.
Select the Identify folder not the contents.
See the link below for tips of things to do before and after the import.

If you have used Entourage 2004

Move your Entourage X Identity folder over to your Microsoft User Data
folder. You can have both Office X identity folder and Office 2004 Identity
folders in the MUD folder.

You will then need to Import your Entourage X identity then combine the new
with the old.

If you have trouble combining, let us know.

Hi,
It still did not work. I can see the files in the Office X Identity folder,
however, they are greyed out, so the import will not work.
Should I replace the files in the Entourage 2004 files with the Office X
files?
Thanks, Colin

No, they are not compatible.
When you select to import you need to select the folder containing your
identity. The contents will appeared grayed out because you cannot select
them. Does this make sense?

I see this problem too. I am in Entourage 2004 and click import, then
navigate to the microsoft user data folder, then to the office x
identities folder, then select the identity, but when I do that, it
won't let me click "import". So, I am stuck.

thanks,
Mark

Dianne,

I guess I just do not understand what the solution is..

I do select the old X identity folder. If the import button is supposed to
be active at that point, still no luck.

What am I missing here?

I see the choose button is active when I select the Office X identity on the
old drive, however, the screen says that there are no identities there, even
though I can see a 1.1G set of files with all the old data.

Maybe I have to bring it on to the new HD for it to work?

Is the Microsoft User Data folder on the same computer?

I don't think this is what you are doing, but I will mention it because it
could be a problem with some other users. Entourage 2004, Under File: Import
if you select Import from an archive, this is referring to importing an .rge
file. You need to select Import from a program.

Now what is an .rge file? When you export in Entourage 2004, the file that
is created is an .rge file. More info:

Yes!!!!! You cannot do the import when the data is on a separate drive.

I put the file on the desktop of the new drive and still nothing. It does
not see the identity.

Here is the path.
Users-colinfox-desktop-officexidentites-mainidentitie
Then I can see all the files, but the import utility says it is not there.

I found a solution - finally: in Entourage X I created new identity,
have quit Entourage, manualy copied content of my old Main Identity to
that newly created identity and run Entourage 2004: importer still did
not see my identities, however, after manual browsing and selecting
that newly created one it suddenly appears in selection window an
import process can continue!!!
