How to Import Entourage 2004 Identity into Entourage X?

I recently had a failed upgrade of Leopard and had to revert back to Tiger.

In reinstalling my Office 2004 Applications Entourage X is now my system and
I have been attempting to connect to my old Database which is an Identity in
Entourage 2004.

Is there a mechanism that would allow me to import the Entourage 2004
Identity into Entourage X?

The only way would be to start up in 204 and export all the data to an
entourage archive that could then be imported into vX.

I'm confused. If you reinstalled Office 2004, why are you asking about
Entourage X?

Basics on importing:

You can import from an older version to a newer version.

OE to Entourage 2001
OE to Entourage X or Entourage 2004
Entourage 2001 to Entourage X or Entourage 2004

You cannot import from a newer version to an older version. e.g. Entourage X
to OE or Entourage 2001 using Entourage.

You cannot import from the same version of Entourage. e.g. Entourage X to
Entourage X or Entourage 2001 to Entourage 2001. You can use the MBOX method
or the Export-Import Scripts to transfer mail from one identity to another.

Thank yoiu Diane. The asnwers pointed me to exactly what I needed to access
the old database and it is now up and running in 2004. If I could only get
my G4 Dual 1 Ghz to upgrade to Leopard that would be great. My system won't
even boot from the Leopard install CD.... Have a great day and thank you
again. -Carl-

I installed Leopard on my G4 Dual 1.42 GHZ using the DVD. See MacFixIt
article How to clone the Leopard Install DVD to an drive. I understand it's
much faster also.

Hi, I hope someone can help me.

I recently upgraded to Leopard. For some reason, this pretty much wiped all my hard disk and did a completely new install. No problem, as all my data was backed-up.

However, having re-loaded Office 2004 for Mac and downloaded any update files, it wont let me open my main identity file saying "this file cannot be opened with this version of Entourage'. Its a 19GB file and has 5 years of email on it!

Please. Can somebody help??? Thanks

Finally an easy one to answer. :)

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.3. Since there was a database
format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in
Entourage 11.3.3.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.
See ³Confused over Microsoft Update Version numbers?³ for a handy script
that gives you the Office application¹s version info.
