can't save files unless name or folder are changed

want to just save files and not have to do save as. The
box in tools, options that recommends read-only is not
checked. I am saving to hard drive...what other
alternatives do I have?

2. What is the exact message you're getting when you try to
save?

3. Anti-virus software installed?
