change design template per page

I want to change the design template in PPT 2000, but
when I change it, it applies that template to the whole
document, and not to the specific page that I want.
Surely you can have different templates on different
pages in the same file. I am a newbie to PPT, so maybe I
am just overlooking something. Thanks,
