Changing text direction

I would like to change the text direction in a Workd document, however when I
click on Format, the Text Direction option is not enabled, so I cannot click
on. Any suggestions?

You can only rotate text (through 90 or 270 degrees) if it's in a textbox,
frame, or table cell.
