closing out of outlook

when i click out of outlook, it asks if i want to backup and i say yes
(backup my notes mainly) and it comes back and says i cant someone else is
using program and must be closed out first. i am the only one uses this
computer, how do i correct this and close it out properly.?

Possibly another application or add-in is preventing Outlook from closing
completely.
