column scrolling

I want to scroll over the columns but would like to have
columne A fixed/frozen on the window without disappearing
so that I could have it for reference all the time. Is
this feasible and if so how to do it? Would appreciate
any help.

Hi Frank

Select cell B1
Go to Window>Freeze Panes

select the cell you want to act as a pivot for the frozen
columns. for example if you want column A to be fixed,
then select cell B1. Go to Window menu and select "freeze
panes"

similarly, if you select B2, then not only will Column A
be frozen, but Row 1 as well
