Complete Tasks remaining in Incomplete tasks filter

Hi Everyone,

Could anyone give me reason why the "Incomplete Tasks" filter would not
work on the Task Usage view. The filter works fine on other views like Gant
chart but on the Task usage view, it only removes some of the completed
tasks. I have checked the tasks it leaves and the all have 0 remaining work,
100% complete etc

Thanks in advance
Shane

Hi Shane,

I cannot reproduce the error you report. The definition of the
filter is:

% Complete does not equal zero
or
% Work complete does not equal zero
and
Assignment equals yes.

Is it possible that you have a task with multiple assignments and
one of the assignments has remaining work?

Add the % Complete and % Work complete fields to the view and
perform and autofilter on both fields.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Well, the hard answer is that filter is performing the way it's supposed to
and we just have to understand what is causing you to see unexpected tasks.

An easy solution is that it's possible the filter definition has been
changed in the global template. The standard definition is to exclude %
Complete =100% OR % Work Complete = 100% AND Assignment = Yes. If there are
any other criteria beyond that, it might explain the filter's behavior.
Check Project>Filters>More Filters>Incomplete>Edit to see the criteria.

Another possibility I've seen is that the Task Usage view itself has become
corrupted. This can be tested by making a similar view and using the
existing Incomplete filter to see if you still get the unexpected results.
If it seems the view is corrupted, we can either try some things to replace
it, or simply use a new one.

I saved the plan locally and now the filter works as normal.
This suggests that the filter or view in the eGlobal is corrupt.
But wouldnt that mean that all plans would display the problem....because
this isn't the case

You may want to check the Organizer and see if it has any unusual objects in
it.

See this article for some related concepts:

Also, have you opened the project on different computers to see if the
results are the same?

At this point, my next step would be to ensure that the view on the user's
computer matches a working view. I've fixed this before by pulling up the
troubled project, and one that works, and using the Organizer to copy the
good view and filter from the working project to the troubled one. You just
have to be careful what you're copying, as the article above suggests. Some
objects belong locally and others don't.

You might be able to replicate similar behavior if you unchecked Updating
Task Status Updates Resource Status in Tools > Options > Calculation. That
could cause discrepancies between the Assignment and Task fields...

A bit of a longshot, but have you checked that setting?

Hi Everyone -

Yes - The View was corrupt by associating with the wrong table. I corrected
it and the problem was corrected. Thanks all for your input.
