Completed task still show in the resource view as work?

I have a project that has some tasks that were scheduled months in the future
but were completed early. When I view the resource usage those tasks still
show as work. The Act. Work cell also shows hours that equal Work. When you
click task info it shows the task completed.

Why is the Resource usage view showing the hours in the WORk and ACT. WORK
cells?

Hi,

Because that is normal behaviour.
When a task is finished Work IS equal to actual work
Work=Actual Work PLUS remaining work
For a finished task remaining work is zero but work is not.

Jan,
Thanks, but maybe I did not ask the question clearly. When I bring up the
Resource Usage view it still shows these tasks as being scheduled when they
are complete. That's the problem. Completed tasks should not be displayed on
the Resource View view.
To resolve this I had to manually change the finish date to a previous date
and reenter the actual work hours. Then the resource usage doesn't show these
tasks as being still in progress for scheduling.

Hi,

I'm glad you solved your problem but I must admit you mention a few things
that I don't get.
I don't have a "Resource View" in Project.
If you mean Resource Usage, it does show finished tasks as well ... unless
you use a filter, and what it shows then depends on the filter.
For instance if you use the "Work Incomplete" filter a finished task will
not show, even when the finishing date lies in the future.
Are you working with a filter of your own making?
