Consistent Views in Project 2000

Okay... this is a STUPID question... but without getting into custom
code or constant file checking, I haven't figured out another way to do
this.

Using MS Project 2000 Standard, with a project that is a master project
with about 20 linked project files.

My customer wants to always see certain columns and only those certain
columns. However other schedule users tend to open the schedule file
and change the view, make their schedule changes, save the file and
exit.

End result being that when my customer next opens the schedule, the
view is different.

Other than the options below, is there any other way to control which
columns are visible, i.e. those columns and ONLY those columns.

a. Controlling access at the file level (which has already been
rejected by the customer)

b. Writing office procedures outlining the view that must be
maintained, and trying to enforce them

c. Writing custom code (VBA or macro) to reset the view when the
schedule is opened

Note: I can't control the user's knowledge of the application...

Thanks in advance.

I thought option C would be fairly easy. I just have to do a bit of
coming up to speed on VBA, Project flavor.

Plus the advantage I see is that I make the code auto-run.

Agree.
If there's some object you don't find easily just ask.

Hi Jennifer,

Have I missed something here? Why can't you create a new master file with a
new name just for your customer's use? When others change the individual
projects it will be picked up in the customer's master. After all, the
master is just a temporary file being filled with the inserted projects for
viewing.

For this particular user, that would probably be too confusing,
although I can run the idea by her (i.e. "would you like your own
personal view of the file"). This individual's level of computer
knowledge is still in the "let's use File Manager" and "I love a
640x480 screen resolution although I don't have a vision problem"
stage.
