Continuous Numbering

How does one invoke continuous numbering when there has been a break and the numbering starts over again? Word has a drop down menu for this, but I can't figure out how to do so in Publisher.

If there has been a break and the numbering starts again, I would call it
"Discontinuous numbering", as the numbering doesn't really continue from
where it was before

Try Insert > Section (Publisher 2002 and later)

Thanks for the reply. I have Pub 2002. I solved my problem on the same
page by inserting a text box in place of returns. However, I haven't
figured out how to continue numbering from one page to the next. I tried
the Insert, Section, Continuous Section, but it didn't work. Any
suggestions?

I'm not quite sure I get what you're after.
Are you looking to have a numbered list, like:

1)
2)
3)
--- Page Break ---
4)
5)
6)
??

If that's the case, you can use Linked Text Boxes.
Use the Text Box toolbar to link the two text boxes together.
