copy and paste

I am working with several co-authors on a draft of a paper. They send their
drafts back as email attachments. Once I open their attachment in Word, I
want to copy and paste their email comments into the word document (such that
I have the word document that includes the email comments as opposed to
having to open the email again AND the document).

The problem: when I copy from the email and paste into the Word document
(using the track changes feature), the sentences from the email are inverted
(meaning a sentence might look like this "that what is being characterizedI
agree with the gist of your comments, . I've finally read thru the paper"
instead of like this "I've finally read thru the paper. I agree with the gist
of your comments, that what is being characterized is"
