Copying Excel Table into PowerPoint

E

Ed

For years I've been able to copy a table from Excel into PowerPoint
with no problems. Suddenly the table is cropped when I paste it into
PowerPoint. This problem seems to have started with I upgraded to
Leopard. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a work-around?
Thanks

Same problem here. I found 2 workarounds ... 1) shortening the column
widths in the Excel table sometimes works, and 2) copy the columns
that were pasting fine, then copy the rest of the columns separately
and size & align.

Not a long term fix, but if the presentation is in the morning, it
might let you get some sleep.

I found an inelegant fix: I copy my Excel cells using Snapz Pro X and
then I paste the resulting graphic into PowerPoint. Snapz Pro X is a
great little tool.

I am hopeful that Microsoft will fix this problem and scores of others
with their long overdue upgrade.

Hi Ed,

Try this:

In Excel, select the table then hold the shift key down and then use Edit >
Copy Picture.

Does that work for you?

Jim,

I delighted to get your attention. MAC MVP are great!

I know how to use Excel very well. The problem I describe has been
happening since I upgraded to Leopard. Copying tables does NOT work as
it has since I beta-tested the first version of Excel in 1985. I know
I'm not the only one with this issue as Bill W attests. Another person
has also written to me outside of this news group asking me if I found
a solution. Clearly this is an issue with Excel 2004 and Leopard.

The question: Is there is a fix? Or, does one have to wait until
Office 2008, which of course, will present a host of other problems.

Although I haven't "made the switch" myself it appears that Leopard is
showing its spots in a number of ways. Things that worked fine - not just
Excel - are suddenly broken. It may be a while before current apps catch up
to Leo's "improved " way of doing things:)

In the meantime, have you tried Insert>Object>Create from File? Or Insert>
Object> Excel Worksheet, then copy & paste from the "real" one into it?

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them both. Both crop the table.

I guess I'll have to wait for Office 2008 for a fix. I HOPE that
Microsoft is testing their long-awaited update with the latest Mac
hardware and software. Call me a cockeyed optimist.

SHort-term grungy hack: try copying the table in two small pieces, then
aligning the images in the slide.

Hi Guys,

What am I doing wrong? When I try to copy a range of cells from Excel into
PowerPoint the whole range gets displayed. I copied A1:G29 without
problem.

Grungy hack: I haven't tried.

Jim, I suspect not every one has experienced this issue.

Hmmm. Trashing preferences might help, then, or repairing permissions....

Jim,

Thanks. I trashed preferences and repaired permissions. Problem gone.
I wonder if this simple procedure would work in other aspects of my
live.

My preference is for a simple, clean, orderly life. It hasn't happened. So
as to avoid disappointment I trashed my preferences and things are much
better now.

I'm having this exact same problem, and have had it forever. Now I may be so close to a solution! Can someone please explain how to Trash Preferences and Repair Permissions? Thanks!
