Copying from Excel - pasting in Publisher

To all,

Hoping someone can help me.

I have a series of spreadsheets in excel that I use for calculations. Once I
impute my data and have the formulae calculate my data, I copy these
spreadsheets into MS Publisher, format them and make my reports. This has
never caused me a problem until now.

Today I was working along as usual but when I pasted one of my spreadsheets
into Publisher, one particular cell (appearing about 30 times in one
spreadsheet) had changed sizes. I checked the size of the cells (column) and
verified that nothing had changed, I checked all the formatting and all was
good, I checked my settings in Publisher and nothing out of the ordinary.

Then I tried to paste more sections of the same spreadsheet (Actually 1
spreadsheet with different calculation tables down through the worksheet).
And some of the pastes pasted fine while others within the same sheet didn't
(larger sized cell). I pasted to the same Publisher file as I always have and
some sections of the worksheet pasted like always while others had the larger
cells (on the same Publisher file).

I tend to think that it is a problem with the clipboard. Has anyone else
ever run into this, and can anyone advise.

I just tried to paste the messed up chart in MS Word to see if the cell
would still be messed up but the paste transfered fine. Perhaps it's a
problem within Publisher?

Thank you very much in advance,

Check the font sizes or the font itself. I don't know why you are experiencing
this. Are the Excel cells formatted as text or numbers?
Publisher tables are not the same as Word tables. In Word you can designate the
size of the cells, in Publisher you cannot.

Thanks Mary,

I am still scratching my head over this one. The formatting is completely
the same as it has always been and it is the same as the sections of the
spreadsheet that are pasting fine. The cells are formated to "general".

I analysed further and found that there is a pattern to this. It looks as if
every second sheet pastes bad starting about 1/3rd the way down the excel
sheet.

I'm thinking that I must have done something that I cannot find now. I did
however fix the problem. I was able to copy a good section of excel sheet
(same formatting such as merged cells, location of codes etc.) and paste
special - formating. This left all my formulae in place while changing the
formatting to the good pages. I still never found out what caused it in the
first place but I'm happy that I've been able to correct it. I will be on the
look out for this for weeks or months now (you know, the way you only need to
lock your keys in the car once and you double check for years...)

Thanks Mary,

I'm glad you found your solution. I haven't had this problem since I have no
clue about Excel expect for simple mail merge. Thanks for taking the time to
post your success, it is appreciated.
