Copying pictures from a word file

L

Louise

Hi all

I have received a Word document via e-mail and within the document is a
photograph which has simply been copied and pasted into the document by the
original user.

Is there any way I can take a copy of this photograph and save it back into
its original format, not Word?

Thank you for any help.

I've already tried that but it didn't work. This just literally converted my
file into an HTML file and the photographs weren't saved as separate files in
their own right.

I am presuming that graham's help file doesn't work on photographs???

First of all, make sure you're saving as "Web page" (*.htm) not "Single-file
Web page (*.mht). Note that the latter will be the default if you have not
changed a setting in the Web Options (Tools | Options | General | Web
Options | Browsers: "Save new Web pages as Single File Web pages"), *.mht
will be the default format if you choose File | Save as Web Page. You may
want to uncheck this option.

Then, depending on your Web Options settings (Files tab), your graphics will
either be in the same folder with your document or in a separate supporting
folder called <your filename>_files. You won't see the graphics, however, if
you have your file type set to "Word Documents" or "All Word Documents."
You'll need to switch to "All Files," and then you'll see some GIFs or JPEGs
with generic numbered filenames. Those will be your extracted graphics.

That worked a treat, thank you.
