Couldn't lock file error message - UNC

When I try to link front-end to a remote database via unc I get an error
message "Couldn't lock file ". I linked the database via map network drive

May be a network security issue. Make sure you have read, write, execute
permission on the directory where the back end is located.

Usually a can not lock file error is due to file permissions and not access
permissions. Can you open the database where the tables are?

What Windows (not Access) permissions, does the Windows (not Access)
user have, to the folder where the back-end database file is?
