crashes every time after downloading messages

T. S.

I chose a special set up for Outlook.
I download only items smaller the 10kb and download only
the header for the other items (see below how I selected
this setting). Then, by looking at the headers I decide
which messages I want to delete from the server (without
downloading them) and which I want to download.
Unfortunately, once the selection is done, and I click
Send/Receive Outlook ALWAYS crashes.
I found out that the crash can be postponed if I close the
preview pane before hitting Send/Receive. If the preview
pane is closed the crash seems to occur if I click Reply.
If I close the preview pane, hit Send/Receive, close
Outlook and launch Outlook again then the crash does not
seem to occur.
The crash seem to occur because Outlook does not seem to
find the message, but no specific error message is given
(just the generic "would you like to report to Microsoft?"
to which I always say "yes" but I never got any answer).
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this? I
would really be grateful. I really like this setting and
would like to keep it.

Thank you.
T.S.

I use Outlook 2002 (Office XP)
and Windows XP Professional
both fully patched

Strangely, I don't have any problem with this setting with
the same Outlook 2002 on Win98

The setting I am talking about can be found in
Tools >> Options >> Mail Set up >> Send/Receive >> Edit >>
putting a check to the option "Dowload only item
description for items larger then ..."
