CREATING A CUSTOM FIELD

I have a number (not important that it is a number) that identifies a
project. In the Resource Usage view of my Resource pool I need a column that
displays that number, beside the column that displays the name of the project
that each task for that resource comes from. Is this possible? I thought of
using one of the available fields in the properties box, but can't find where
I could display that information in a table.

Have you thought of inserting another column such as Text 1 and entering this
information in that column?

I did......but I want to enter that information once for that project, and
have it fill in appropriately which it does not. For example I want to
somewhere tell it the the project called "COMPUTER LAB" is "DOCKET # 555".
In the resource usage view when I add the name of the project so it shows
which project each task comes from, I want to also add a column that puts the
proper docket # besie the proper project name.

Teeder,
When you tried a spare text field, where did you enter the number? If
you enter the number on the assignment rows of the Resource Usage view
in the master pool file, and the sharer files are open, that information
will appear in each of the sharer files on the appropriate assignment
rows. You just have to remember to save changes when you close.

However, when dealing with spare fields on a combination view such as
the Resource Usage view, you must be cognizant of what those spare
fields represent. You might want to go to our MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm and take a look at FAQ 51 - Data
Types: Task, Resource and Assignment

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much John. The macro syntax transfering the text field to the
usage table did the trick!

Teeder,
You're welcome and thank for the feedback.
