Creating Enterprise templates?

R

Rachel

Can anyone provide direction as to how I go about creating
an Enterprise template? I'm not interested in modifying
the Enterprise Global template, just storing some template
files on the Server for my users to access and base their
plans on. I'm not finding much in my reference manual.

Any direction would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Rachel:

To save a project as an enterprise project template, or import a file as an
enterprise project template, you simply need to select "template" in the
save dialog in the field that is labeled "type." All other rules for
creating an enterprise project apply. Once you've added the template, Select
File > New, and choose General Templates in the project guide. This will
open a template selection dialog and you can click on the Enterprise tab to
find your new template.

Gary,

I tried this, BUT:

1) It saves the template under my general network
settings. I need everyone to have access to this
2) I do not see the Enterprise Template tab you mention.
The only tabs I see is General and Project Templates

Any ideas?

Rohit -

I finally figured this one out... just an oversight on our
part, really. First, make sure you are connected to the
server; next, create your template just like you would a
regular project plan (or open a template file someone else
has sent you). Go to Save As -which brings up the Save to
MS Project Server Dialog box. The second text box
is "Type" - choose Template. Fill in the rest of the data
and choose SAVE. Doing so will automatically generate the
Enterprise Templates tab and you will see your template
loaded there. These are available to all online users and
are not saved to local settings.

To delete enterprise templates, you have to get to them
via PWA - ADMIN - Clean up MS Project Server Database.
You delete them just as you would a regular project.

Hope that helps!

Gary,

I tried this - but the Template gets saved to
the "General" tab vs the "Enterprise" tab. What did I do
wrong? Any ideas?
