Creating own border

Message for Mary.

I used Mary's tips from this group a few months ago, which I had saved in my
"Publisher Tips Folder".

Could you please help? I now use Publisher2007

Publisher2003 I created a border which I am able to Copy/Paste onto a newly
created card using Publish2007. All is well and suits my needs. I use this
border quite a lot for my Birthday cards for men!
However being the person I am, I wanted to have this border in "Created
Customs"on my new Publish 2007 OS. Where am I going wrong? I spent at least
3 hours yesterday trying various methods but I am unable to achieve what I
need. This was my last attempt and following is the method I used. I have
now got to the point where I can't remember what I have previously done -
not done.
I opened a new A4 page/Created a text box/Line Border Styles/More
Lines/Border Art/Create Custom Border/I unticked "Use Clip Organiser" to
enable me to select my own picture/Navigated to my required
picture/Insert/renamed my Custom Border "Football"/OK/. The following
message pops up "This picture is too complex to make into a border" it is a
..jpeg 5.02KB. I also made the picture a (.ping) and a (.btmap) and still the
same message pops up.It is certainly not an urgent request but hate it when
I can't achieve what I set out to do. I managed to do this with Publisher
2003 but for the life of me I can't remember how. Maybe a bug?

MoMo again

I have just managed to create a couple (second day) of .gifs 1.49KB and one
4.87KBs into Custom Borders and they are perfect. Can't understand it! Still
perplexed but I am now drawing a line under it. It is doing my head in. Am I
giving up too soon?

Hello Maureen,
I have found only certain images will become borders. If the image has too many
colors or is too complex it is a no go. I've given up trying to use custom
BorderArt. I simply insert a clip, copy paste until it looks okay. Then I
transfer the whole thing over to the content library. Gotta love the content
library.

what are the dimensions of the image you are using?

btw...Publisher 2007 is not an OS

Thanks Rob
Sorry, my ignorance, still learning, thought what I was using was called
Operating System, and I thought it was. :-(
Found out now I am using Vista Ultimate as my OS. Thanks though for putting
me right :) Unless I am told, I would never know anything :) The
dimensions of the image was 144 x 142 and it didn't like it.

Thank you Mary

Today I have found the "Content Library". Nice one. Took me quite a while,
even going through the Help Files. Then I thought about right clicking the
image and there it was. Amazing stuff. I just love this learning curve (well
most of the time).

I believe Mary is correct, it has to do with complexity and not so much
physical dimensions - just did a few experiments.

Try simplifying the image.

By the way, I didn't get mine yet ;-)

Thanks Rob

I simplified the Image (guess how)? I put the border (the one from my old
copy) into the contents Library. Cheating I know but I am having fun
stacking up the Copntents Library ;-)
Thank you both

Happy birthday for whenever :)
