When the user holds down her CTRL key (or shift) she cannot select multiple
files when attempting to open them in Office. In windows explorer she has no
problem selecting multiple files. What is causing this? How can I correct it>

"Office" is the name of a bunch of individual applications (programs) sold
in a group. Which application are you talking about here? Word? Excel?
PowerPoint? Something else?

Does Ctrl not let her select multiple files, or does it let her select them
but then doesn't actually open them?

Some applications don't allow you to open more than one file at a time, so
the Ctrl button doesn't work in them.

I know word and excel there is this problem. She cannot even select multiple
files. I am able to do it on my workstation, no problem. I've tried repairing
the apps with no luck. Thanks for your assistance.

Can you swap out keyboards? Or, if the keyboard she has now has two Ctrl
keys, try the other one. It may just be that she has a bad Ctrl key.

Echo,
Sorry for the delay. No, it is not a keyboard issue. The user can select
multiple files outside of Office (i.e. in windows explorer, or on her
desktop). When she is trying to open files inside of office, she gets this
error. Holding the shift key and selecting the files does not work, either.

What version of Office is she using?

Is she using File=>Open from inside of Word?

If Office XP or Office 2003 is the behavior the same if you start Word in Office Safe Mode (hold ctrl key when starting Word).
