Custom Calendar

I am using Project 2003 & have created a custom calendar which contains all
of our corporate holidays & special days. I then assigned it by selecting
Project > Project Information. Project, however, did not block off these
days in the Gantt chart & is still scheduling people to work on these
holidays. How can I get it to use my custom calendar as the default?

To set up your project correctly, you need to select the Project Calendar in
two different locations. You did the first step correctly, which was to
click Project - Project Information and select a calendar from the Calendar
pick list. After you complete this first step, the software WILL correctly
schedule your project, but it will not show your company holidays as
non-working time (gray shaded bands) on the Gantt Chart. The second step is
to click Format - Timescale and to click the Non-Working Time tab. In this
dialog, click the Calendar pick list again and choose the same calendar you
picked in the first step and then click the OK button. You will now see
your company holidays displayed as gray shaded nonworking time bands in the
Gantt Chart. Hope this helps.
