Cut and Paste a word document into a Word document.

System Windows XP running Office 2003 all fully patched. No virus of trojans
that Norton anti virus can find.

I have a word document and I cut and pasted a .xls file into it no problem.
I then tried to cut and paste another one in. This time it open the .xls file
and copied the contents in, not what I wanted. I wanted to insert the .xls
into the word document so that when you clicked on the .xls it opened the
file. It would appear that the copy opens the .xls and inserts the contents.
I want to imbed the .xls into word.

Same happens with a .doc file as well.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks

Click in the document where you want to place the linked object or embedded
object.
On the Insert menu, click Object.
Click Create from file.
In the File box, type the name of the file you want to create a linked
object or embedded object from, or click Browse to select from a list.
To create a linked object, select the Link to file check box.
An embedded object is created if you don't select the Link to file check box.

To display the linked object or embedded object as an icon— for example, if
you want to minimize the amount of space the object uses in the document—
select the Display as icon check box.
Note When you create an embedded object from information in an existing
Microsoft Excel workbook, the entire workbook is inserted into your document.
The document displays only one worksheet at a time. To display a different
worksheet, double-click the Microsoft Excel object, and then click a
different worksheet.
