Cut and Paste Issue

We are having a cut and paste issue. When in Word (or any application, like
Wordperfect, posting here because it seemed the most applicable), we
highlight some text and copy it (either Right-Click-Copy or Ctrl-c, doesn't
matter) and go to the new location and try to paste it, it doesn't paste. If
we hit Ctrl-v, nothing happens, if we Right-Click, Paste is grayed out. If
we go back to the original text and copy it again, it will paste normally.
This doesn't happen every time but enough that we know that it is not just
user error.

Any thoughts? We are using XP Pro Sp2.

Seen things like that when SpyWare is at work, Have you run a recent
anti-virus/spy-ware scan?

The workstation should be clean. It has eTrust Anti-Virus and PestPatrol
installed and updated. We do regular scans with the last one (that I
personally know of) being about a week and a half ago (but the Real Time
Monitoring is on), so I hope it is clean...

Does anybody know if the Clipboard can become corrupt and if you can
reinstall or fix the Clipboard?
