date change

I am doing a schedule for a project and need to remove the start and finish
dates for some of the scheduled task. I would like to have the start/finish
blank or filled with
0/0/00. Is this possible ? Is there some way to alter the dates of task
that are not being worked on or that are put on hold with no projected start
or finish?

Hi Steve,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

The simple answer is - no. Project must have dates to make a schedule.
Indeed, you should not be entering dates in favour of tasks, durations and
precedence links, whence Project will calculate the dates for you. If you
have no predecessors, then Project will default to the project start date,
and there it will remain. You can use week numbers instead, but there must
always be something in the dates columns. There is no way to put tasks on
hold. You could give them zero duration to make them into milestones.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

You must have real Start / Finish dates.

If you don't want to see them, then format the text to white colour.
