default change in an autoshape permanent?

How do I make a default change in an autoshape permanent?

It goes back to the original default as soon as I close the document.

example: I make a circle, change the "fill" option to "no fill" then click
"set autoshape defaults"

as long as I'm in that document, circles will have no fill.

As soon as I leave the document and start another, it's back to circles that
are filled in--my "no fill" default has disappeared!

When you use Set AutoShape Defaults, you're setting the defaults for the
current document. If you want to set the defaults for all new documents, you
must open Normal.dot and make the change there. See

and editing Normal.dot.

Thank you very much! Also, I didn't realize that when you hit the "save'
icon on the main toolbar, it put the new normal.com back where it became the
automatic default.

This will save me a ton of time preparing training materials with just the
right kind of circles and arrows!

Only... it's not normal.com. It's Normal.dot, as Suzanne indicated.
