Delete Actuals

MARY DAHL

It seems as if setting up a project someone entered actuals for a generic
resource instead of assigning the hours, I cannot delete them, have even
logged in as the resource but it does not show on timesheet. Any help in this
would be much appreciated.

Hi Mary,

Do you mean actual hours entered in MS Project plan? If so, please go
to Resource Usage view (see the hours at right side and insert Actual
Work column) and delete the actual hours for that resource and save
the project.

Thanks

Chak: thanks for that but I zero out like you stated and then it says to sync
up to actuals and it comes back. I don't really see how someone could've
entered it even. Anything else?

Hi Mary,

One thing I didn't understood here, you said you logged as resource
and didn't seen the actual hours in timesheet. How come generic
resource have timesheet? Generic resource have account?

On the same task along with generic resource, Is another real resource
also assgined? If so, MSPS may be expecting to sync those actuals with
that resource's timesheet.

Please could you specify your MS Project Server version to understand
in detail.

Thanks
Chak

well in desperation I made him a team member so I could try to see if he had
anything I could work with. And yes, there is 1 other real resource assigned
to the same task. We are on MS 2003 SP2A. Thanks for your assistance Chak.

Hi Mary,

It seems to be you are using Manage Timeperiods feature. When you
manually changed the Actual Work of an task for which timesheet
reporting was done, you will get the out of sync message.

You can do the following:

Open project plan

Tools menu -> Tracking -> Sync to Protected Actuals

Save Project

I hope this works, if not Other workaround solution as below:

Turn off Manage time periods time being and republish this particular
task with overwriting actual work entered by resource option.

Turn back the Manage Timeperiods once you done with republish.

Thanks
Chak
