Deleting multiple emails

I often get emails that I filter directly into folders, then read and delete. When I highlight the messages and press Delete, I invariably get a warning box telling me that "this action will affect all items in the selected groups". Well duh! I've looked in Options etc but can't see any way of suppressing this warning message, but being new to Outlook it could be staring me in the face! Can it be done?

Hi Diane, I'm using Outlook 2000. I've found that checkbox, but it's already off.

I've just experimented a bit more and I think I've hit a vital clue. I have my view sorted by conversation topic. If I delete one or more emails within a conversation, that's fine, but if I include the conversation heading in my deletions (because I usually either Ctrl+A to highlight the lot, or Shift+Ctrl+Home to highlight from current message to first message) then I get the warning.

Any ideas?

Another clue: if the conversations are expanded, I get the warning message; if they're not, I don't. I find that bizarre - I would've thought logically that if the conversations are expanded, the user can be relied on to *see* all the items under a conversation heading; and if the conversations are collapsed, I'd be more inclined to expect a warning about hidden information. But this is the other way around!

I guess this comes under the heading of "annoyance" rather than "problem", but it's kind of interesting to work out exactly what the circumstances have to be to get or not get a message.
