designing a custom task form that links to the contacts folder

Hello,

I'd like to be able to add a contact field to a custom task form that
can match the input with an item in the contacts folder, or if there is
no associated contact item I'd like to be able to create. If anyone
can give me a hint as to how to begin I'd be very grateful. Note that
I own "Microsoft Outlook Programming" by Sue Mosher, but can't seem to
find the section relevant to my question; I've spent the day reading
chapters on things I already know. If anyone knows this book well and
can suggest a chapter to look in, that might be enough.

Thanks,
luckily

You'd use the TaskItem.Links collection for that. EAch Link in the collection has an Item object that can point to a contact. If objTask is your task and objContact the contact, the usage is:

objTask.Links.Add objContact

See the discussion in the book in Section 20.3.2
